The classic cockatoo job. We cut out chewed sections back to sound timber, scarf-joint new kiln-dried hardwood in a matched species, glue with marine adhesive, dowel and then dress the rail flat so the repair reads as one continuous length.

A 1.6mm aluminium cap folded to your rail profile and powder-coated in your building's colour. It removes the bite edge completely, so the birds lose interest and the timber underneath stops weathering.

Gnawed board ends invite water, and water brings rot. We lift affected boards, inspect joists, bearers and any waterproof membrane below, replace what is failing and re-lay to correct spacing and fall.

Where cockatoos roost, they chew. We close off soffit gaps, pergola rafter ends, planter cavities and awning voids with 316-grade stainless mesh, shaped and trimmed so it disappears from the living side.

Chewed posts and corroded brackets loosen a balustrade long before anyone notices. We re-fix into sound substrate, add concealed bracing where needed, then hand-load test and document the result.

North-facing harbour balconies bake and then get salted. We sand back grey fibres, feed the timber and apply two coats of marine-grade decking oil, which also makes the surface less attractive to beaks.

Usually yes. We identify the species on site, then select boards with similar grain and colour from our Peakhurst racks. Weathered timber is never a perfect match on day one, but after a season of harbour sun the splice blends in.
Like-for-like repair rarely needs consent. Alloy capping changes the external appearance, so most owners corporations want it noted or approved — we supply the colour and profile details in a one-page format committees can sign off quickly.
We mask glass and tiles, run dust extraction on every saw, and sweep and bag off-cuts before we leave each day. Lift protection and corridor mats are standard, and we notify the building manager of our hours in advance.
No deposit under $1,000. Above that, 20% on booking to cover materials, the balance on completion by bank transfer. Strata-funded work can be invoiced directly to your managing agent with a purchase order reference.
