1. Who we are
Cockyproof Balcony Carpentry Pty Ltd trades as “Cockyproof” and repairs cockatoo-damaged balcony and deck timber for apartment owners and owners corporations around Sydney Harbour. 2. What we collect
- Contact details: your name, email address, phone number and postal or site address.
- Property details: building name, lot or unit number, level, access arrangements, balcony dimensions and the condition of timber elements.
- Job records: quotes, scopes of works, measurements, site notes, invoices and warranty records.
- Strata information: the name and contact details of your strata manager, building manager or committee representative, where you give them to us.
- Website data: basic technical information such as browser type, device type and pages viewed, collected in aggregate to keep the site working.
We do not seek sensitive information, and we do not collect payment card details through this website.
3. How we collect it
Usually directly from you — by phone, email, our enquiry form, or in person at a balcony check. We may also receive your details from a strata manager, building manager or neighbour who has asked us to contact you about works affecting your lot.
4. Why we use it
- To arrange and carry out a balcony check and prepare a report and fixed-price quote.
- To perform the repair, order materials in the right species, profile and colour, and organise site access.
- To invoice, keep warranty records and schedule the 12-month check-back.
- To answer your questions and to respond to complaints or warranty claims.
- To meet legal, safety and record-keeping obligations that apply to licensed builders in New South Wales.
We only send service updates or maintenance reminders if you have asked for them, and every message includes a simple way to opt out.
5. Who we share it with
We disclose personal information only where it is needed to do the job:
- Subcontractors and suppliers engaged on your works (for example a powder coater or an access-equipment hire company), limited to what they need.
- Your strata manager, building manager or owners corporation, where the works involve common property or where you have asked us to liaise with them.
- Our accounting, email and quoting software providers, which store data on servers in Australia or, in limited cases, elsewhere under contractual protections.
- Government bodies, regulators or insurers where disclosure is required or authorised by law.
We never sell or rent personal information, and we do not use it for advertising by third parties.
6. Storage and security
Records are held in password-protected business systems with multi-factor authentication. Paper site notes are kept at our Peakhurst workshop and destroyed once transferred into our job file. Access is limited to the four people who need it to run jobs. We keep job and warranty records for at least seven years to meet building, tax and warranty requirements, then securely delete or destroy them.
7. Cookies and analytics
This website uses only the minimum session cookies needed for the enquiry form to behave correctly. We do not run advertising trackers or third-party profiling pixels. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings without losing access to the site content.
8. Access, correction and complaints
You may ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, at any time. Email hello@cockyproof.online or call +351 924 358 445 and we will respond within 30 days. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, tell us first — we take complaints seriously and will reply in writing. If you are still not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
9. Photographs and site records
Where photographs of damage are useful for a strata claim or scope of works, we take them only with your permission and use them solely for your job file. We do not publish images of clients' balconies on this website or on social media without separate written consent.
10. Changes to this policy
We review this policy each year and whenever our systems change. The current version is always published on this page with its update date. Material changes affecting existing clients will be notified by email.
